In International Trade Documents, you will discover step by step how documents are used throughout an international trade transaction. Through recognisable real-life situations, Sara guides you through five interactive courses. You will learn which documents are important, how they are interconnected and, most importantly, how to interpret and apply them correctly in practice.

Course 1 – Why Documents Matter

Discover why trade documents are essential, which different categories exist and what risks can arise from errors. You will learn how to classify documents correctly and carry out a practical check before a shipment is dispatched.

Course 2 – Incoterms

Learn what Incoterms rules do and do not cover, how the eleven Incoterms® 2020 rules differ from one another and how to select the appropriate rule for a specific shipment. You will also learn to identify common mistakes and incomplete Incoterms references.

Course 3 – Commercial & Transport Documents

Explore the main commercial and transport documents, such as the commercial invoice, Bill of Lading and documents used for air, road and rail transport. You will learn how to identify inconsistencies within a shipment file before they result in delays, customs issues or payment problems.

Course 4 – Financial Documents & Payment Security

Discover the main payment methods used in international trade and how companies can reduce payment risks, including Letters of Credit, documentary collections and trade credit insurance.

Course 5 – Government, Customs & Legal

Learn which government, customs and legal documents are required to trade goods internationally. You will become familiar with certificates of origin, customs documentation, key legal documents and digital trade documents.

The five courses follow the document flow of an international trade transaction and together form one complete learning journey.
